A NEW SEAT FOR THE NERI FOUNDATION – ITALIAN MUSEUM OF CAST IRON (MIG)

On 15th May more than 200 people attended the inauguration of MIG, the new seat of the Italian Museum of Cast Iron, created from the interior of a large industrial space in which traces of the production for which it was originally intended (the former painting plant of Neri S.p.A.) have been deliberately conserved. Over a hundred and fifty exhibited items acted as the frame for an event that achieved high attendance and great success with the public. It was enriched, furthermore, by the projection of a series of period postcards accompanied by live performances of classical music which contributed to recreating the atmosphere of the late 19th and early 20th centuries evoked by these same images. The opening of this museum space represents for Neri another significant stage in the process of cultural investment that the company had the merit of setting in motion in the 1980s, thereby helping to save and spread awareness of an artistic-industrial expression which has profoundly influenced the countenance of the city. A message, strongly emphasized also by the Mayors of Cesena and Longiano who addressed the event, intending to reiterate the continuing necessity of including beauty and quality of life in projects for the development of our cities.
