RESTORATION

A commitment to identity

Ever since the end of the 19th century the Italian urban landscape has been characterized by the variety and beauty of its cast iron décor items. Today these are analyzed and assessed as part of the overall architectural scheme. They are historical items which belong to that great museum which is the city.

Memory is a source of identity for the present, it is history to be preserved and brought back to life for its aesthetic, functional and symbolic value by means of restoration. In this way it can “live again”; the objects are once again accompanied by the memories and experiences that are a part of them.

This applies equally to the great heritage of historical urban décor: Neri has acquired specific experience and skills in the restoration field, addressing this work with rigorous method and philological care, in full awareness of the value of style.

Restoration is a complex cultural commitment and a significant development: the sensibility of many public administrations has given new life to items which had been inexorably left to fend for themselves. Evidence of this is provided by numerous Neri operations: from Venice to Dublin, from Nice to Trieste, from Turin to Parma, from Milan to Naples, and many other cities.
