Rune Brandt Hermannsson, product designer at ÅF Lighting, took an audience of lighting professionals, municipalities and energy service companies through the process behind the design of a luminaire for public lighting during the Road and Street Lighting Summit 2019 held in Odense (DK) on the 20th and 21st of November.
From the concept stage, to working side by side with the manufacturer during the engineering process, designing a lighting fixture for outdoor spaces is a very peculiar task. In the case of Lang, the added value of ÅF Lighting contribution was not only the aesthetic approach, but the ability to work with a set of given constrains set by our brief transforming them in opportunity. The two independent light sources and the blade are the result of experience and sensitivity when it comes to clients’ needs, product appearance and performance.
